Before Versailles, why not Champs-Élysées?

What does it feel like to enter a place synonymous with luxury and history?

For my birthday, I decided to spend the day at the Château de Versailles because that is one of the most legendary places that I have always dreamed about when I was a kid. However, that day I realised my ticket was actually for 12:30 pm, so I had the morning free, I was walking around the 8e arrondissement, in the Champs Élysées, and… voilá, I found the Louis Vuitton store!

It was one of the places already on my list since it not only represents the peak of luxury fashion but also holds a special place in the heart of Paris. No matter in what part of it you are; this city is like a whole museum in every corner.

Luxury is not just about selling exclusivity or giving a product that will make you stand out from the crowd. It is a symbol of style and heritage, and from the very beginning you step inside this iconic boutique, you feel you are entering a world where every detail has been measured to make your experience unbelievable.

These are some of the (many) things that any shop can learn from Louis Vuitton Champs Élysées:

• Breathtaking Interiors: it is understandable that since it’s a luxury brand, everything will feel more like an art installation than just a place to sell a product. Customer Journey is key for Louis Vuitton and I love that.

• Personalised Service: the brand understands that it is not the only one on the market, so they are taking the luxury to another level and there is always someone guiding you around because this store is not just a shop, is a new whole world!

• Educate your audience: there is a space where they display some of the history of Louis Vuitton, representing the craftsmanship that makes them historic, as well as recommendations provided by the experts of this industry. Luxury can (and must) also be about protecting and making your audience feel part of the story.

I just spent like an hour during that store/museum (for me), but it was enough to understand that it was an encounter with legacy. Will be visiting more times since they just changed their appearance (it is November and we can already see their Christmas decorations!).

Parler une autre langue, (Re)Voir le Monde

Que signifie vraiment penser dans une autre langue ?

C’est une question que je me suis posée il y a plusieurs années quand j’ai commencé à apprendre l’anglais, mais personne ne parlait vraiment anglais, sauf dans les endroits touristiques (c’est normal parce que l’anglais n’est pas la langue officielle).

Cependant, maintenant je suis dans une transition vers la facon de vie française, ce qui est une expérience enrichissante, qui m’a révélé non seulement les règles de la langue, mais aussi les aspects culturelles et les modes de pensée que le français contient. Et moi je pense que c’est une manifestation naturelle qui se passe dans chaque langue étrangère que quelqu’un apprend.

Dans ce cas, le français m’invite à me détacher de la structure à laquelle je suis habitué. Le même m’a passé avec l’anglais, mais à une échelle moindre car je dois faire ma vie quotidienne en français. Mais je pense aussi qu'il ne doit pas être compliqué si on confrontons cette immersion avec la bonne attitude, parce qu’il faut se plonger dans le langue sous toutes ses formes:

• Immersion culturelle : les films, livres, musique, podcasts, portable, commander dans une application, etc…

• Oubliez l’accent : tout le monde a un accent, et personne n’a commencé à parler allemand, néerlandais ou français comme un natif depuis qu’il a commencé à l’apprendre. J’ai mon avis à ce sujet pour une autre occasion, mais les gens et mes amis m’ont fait comprendre que c’est naturel.

De plus, on doit pratiquer à chaque occasion. C’est pour ça que j’ai décidé d’écrire mon deuxième article en français et pas en espagnol pour cette semaine. C’était un peu difficile mais c’est bien, puisqu’est une approche différente que va me permettre percevoir le monde d’autre manière.
